This is a short blog. Finding information about Alexander Commins on the web is all but impossible. The cemetery photos here I took for the most part. A few came from Find A Grave.com. He was among the Akron Board of Trade members who loaned money to B.F. Goodrich to bring his rubber factory from N.Y. to Akron. He took over the mill in 1867 in which he had been associated with Akron founder Simon Perkins and turned it into the Commins & Allen Co. Eventually he became a part of the Quaker Oats operation in Akron. He is entombed in the Commins family mausoleum at Akron's Glendale Cemetery.

Augustus J. Commins

Son of Jedediah and Sophia (Field) Commins. He was a Junior at Jefferson College in Washinginton, Pennsylvania. One of the earliest burials at Glendale cemetery - his father specifically helped to design the cemetery, as he did not want to bury his son in the watery clay soil of the Spicer cemetery. When the Commins mausoleum was designed in 1860, the son was moved there.

Aged 20 yrs, 2 mos, 23 days. Cause of death: congestive fever.
